MISS UNIVERSE CROWN BROUGHT HOME AFTER TWO DECADES
On 13th December Monday morning India woke up to a wonderful news about the 3rd Indian women to win miss universe the coveted title. The 21 year old model Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu brought home the crown after 21 long years. On 12 December 2021, the 70th Miss Universe pageant was held at Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel.
The Miss Universe pageant was established in June 1952 to empower and celebrate women of all backgrounds. The first Indian women to win the Miss universe title is Sushmita Sen in 1994. She was just 18 at that time. Lara Dutta won the Miss Universe title in 2000, six years after Sushmita Sen brought home the coveted crown. Harnaaz Sandhu has been crowned miss universe 2021, two decades after Lara Dutta won the title. Fun fact is that Harnaaz Sandhu was born on March 3 in 2000, as the same year Lara Dutta won the Miss universe title. So, India have to wait 21 years for this historic win. In an past interview Sushmita sen said after me and Lara Dutta unfortunately we didn’t get any miss universe but we will win, cause its our time now, we will win. Here we are in 2021 we have our Miss universe making India proud and making Indian girls confident about themselves. From Olympics to miss universe our Indian women representing India in various flied. As Dangal movie dialogue goes, Hamari Hindustani Chori Choro Se Kam Hain Kay. This is called women empowerment.
Being asked, “What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today?”Harnaaz said “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today."
It’s definitely true in a present world of Instagram trend today’s youth tend to feel not confident about themselves and continuous pressure about posting something good and comparing themselves to others.so, her answer made everyone think about that and start believing about themselves.
